Recount Writing

We were able to write about something we had been to or involved in. I wrote about going to a Matariki Festival.

OMG it was so cool. On the weekend my dad took my sister and I to the matariki Festival at Oromahoe Primary School. It was really cool.

Excitedly, we jumped in our friend’s racy Holden car and we quickly zoomed toward Oromahoe. We jumped out of the car and walked into the school. There was a track full of little lights winking at us. There were four fairy houses and there were these very cool big Chinese lanterns. Some people were covered in glow in the dark paint and had glow sticks on their neck, arms and legs. They were playing music.

First we looked around to see what there was to do. We saw some painted, glass jar lanterns that had been customised with a handle for us to hold.  So we got one each; one for me and one for my sister.  After we got our lanterns, we had another look around and decided to go for a walk along the lantern lit trail.  It was really cool.  Rumble, rumble, rumble our tummies went with hunger.  Dad bought pizza for us. My sister and I didn’t like the pizza so we got a sausage sizzle instead. Yum, I had tomato sauce, mustard and onions. My sister had sausage in bread. It was getting late so we went home.
